This is a new lesson which I've done with a few groups and has proved to be very effective. The pupils need to read the article and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of having a mobile phone mast erected at their school, but halfway through the lesson it is advisable to change students perspective by telling them they have to represent different stakeholder groups e.g. one group could be students, another the 3G Management team. Good for teaching stakeholders.

The pupils need to read the article and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of having a nuclear plant next to their school, but halfway through the lesson it is advisable to change students perspective by telling them they have to represent different stakeholder groups. It has worked extremely well in the past and some students have actually thought the Nuclear plant was a genuine proposal, so it's a good idea to make it clear that it isn't true at the end of your lesson.

I did this for an OFSTED inspection. I've done a Youtube video to accompany the lesson which helps to create fantastic discussion in the classroom and raises awareness of 'Locked in Syndrome&' - it creates a good debate between students too.
